Overview
Treatment plans in Onvelas are the clinical foundation of a patient's care. They define the goals being targeted, the procedures being used, and the criteria for mastery. Payers typically require an updated treatment plan every 6 or 12 months, and many require it before authorizing continued services.
Creating a New Treatment Plan
- Open the patient record and click the Clinical tab.
- Click New Treatment Plan.
- Enter the plan name, start date, and estimated end/review date.
- Assign the supervising BCBA.
- Add the primary and secondary diagnosis codes from the patient's authorization.
Adding Behavioral Goals
Each treatment plan contains one or more behavioral goals organized into domains (communication, adaptive behavior, social skills, etc.):
- Click Add Goal within the treatment plan.
- Enter the goal name (e.g., "Manding for preferred items").
- Define the baseline — current performance level before intervention.
- Set the mastery criterion — the measurable target (e.g., "80% accuracy across 3 consecutive sessions").
- Select the data collection method: trial-by-trial, frequency, duration, or interval.
- Set the goal status to Active.
Tracking Progress
Progress data is entered during session note completion. Onvelas automatically graphs data over time:
- View progress graphs per goal from the Data tab in the patient record.
- Graphs show trial-by-trial data, running average, and mastery threshold line.
- Goals that meet mastery criteria are automatically flagged for BCBA review.
Updating and Archiving Goals
- To modify a goal mid-plan, click Edit Goal and document the reason for the change.
- When a goal is mastered, change the status to Mastered and enter the mastery date.
- Add replacement or new goals as needed without creating a new plan.
Generating Progress Reports
Onvelas can generate a formatted progress report for payer submission or caregiver communication:
- Open the treatment plan and click Generate Progress Report.
- Select the date range for the report period.
- Choose which goals to include.
- Download the PDF or send it directly to the supervising physician via secure message.
